Arik Airlines Employee Arrested on Suspicion of Soliciting a Bribe from a Passenger at The Lagos Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has arrested an Arik Airlines employee for allegedly collecting bribes from passengers at Lagos’ general aviation terminal.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, Henrietta Yakubu, FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs, revealed this.

The erring employee’s on-duty card was promptly revoked, and she was handed over to the competent security agency for appropriate action as a deterrent to others, according to Yakubu.

“Officials were also told to wear visible name tags whenever they were on duty.” There will be no sacred cows, thus airport management must guarantee that all stakeholders at the airports are well informed about the future development.”

If detected, bribe-seeking staff at Nigeria’s airports will be forbidden from working at airport terminals for the rest of their lives, according to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Captain Rabiu Yadudu, FAAN’s Managing Director, stated this to reporters in Abuja following an emergency meeting with FAAN’s management to discuss escalating allegations of bribery at airports.
